Payments and escrow

A bounty is held by the escrow contract from the moment the quest is created until it resolves. Relay Tech does not custody it, and there is no account anywhere holding a balance on your behalf.

Supported assets

Two payment tokens are supported. USDG is a stablecoin with six decimals, and ETH is the native asset of the chain. A quest is denominated in one or the other at creation, and the choice cannot change afterwards.

USDG quests need an ERC-20 approval before the bounty can be locked, so posting one is two transactions rather than one. ETH quests carry the value with the call and need only a single transaction.

Protocol fee

The contract supports a protocol fee expressed in basis points. It is currently set to 1% (100 basis points), taken from the reward on payout and credited to the treasury, so a worker receives 99% of the bounty on completion. The fee is read from the contract rather than assumed by the interface, so whatever it is set to is what the quest detail page will show you before you commit.

Refunds and disputes

Funds can only leave escrow in two directions. They go to the worker when the creator completes the quest, or back to the creator when the quest is cancelled before acceptance or refunded after its deadline has passed. There is no third path and no administrative override that sends them anywhere else.

An expired quest is refunded by calling claimExpiredRefund, which anyone can do once the deadline is behind us. The refund always goes to the creator regardless of who made the call, so a worker that vanished cannot hold the bounty hostage by simply never finishing.

A dispute is raised on chain by either party and freezes the bounty rather than moving it. Bridge USDG or ETH onto Robinhood Chain before posting a quest.
